WEBcouk SEO Processes

Search Engine Optimisation

WEBcouk offer a range of services and advice to clients prior to the launch of their website, to help it achieve as high a natural search engine ranking, and as relevant a search engine listing as possible - hence driving the sort of traffic to your website that is most likely to convert in to confirmed sales or business.

Search engine optimisation is the ongoing process of improving your website's performance in the search engine results. A website's performance is dependent on the success of 3 intertwined processes being made by the search engines - the initial indexing of the site's content, the relevant listing of the site's pages and the competitive ranking of the website. The three processes overlap and the website's performance is based on a culmination of all three processes being successfully - and continuously - completed.

Indexing your content

The first step in getting your website picked up by the search engines, Indexing is the process in which the search engine spiders crawl through your website and save the contents in their databases for retrieval in their listings. We perform the following steps and use the following processes to give your website the best possible start.

  • Upon the completion of your website, we will submit it to the 'Big 3', namely Google, Yahoo! and MSN. Most other search engines use the databases of one of these search engines, so submitting your website to these leaders will allow it to filter down to all of the other search engines without running the risk of 'over-submitting' the website (a practice that can possibly be construed as spamming).
  • WEBcouk understand how search engines index websites and we build our sites to make them as accessible as possible to the spiders. We use the latest coding techniques and all of our industry experience and expertise to ensure that your new website is indexed fully for listing.

Listing your webpages

Often confused with the term 'ranking', the listing of your website is the process in which the search engines assess the content of your pages in order to retrieve them for the most relevant searches carried out through the search engines.

  • We will work with you to carefully select the keywords and phrases that will drive the most targeted traffic to your website. Only targeted traffic will turn in to conversions (sales/bookings etc...) These keywords and phrases will then become the basis of your on-site optimisation. We will assist you writing the home page content, and also the page title tags and the meta keyword & description tags for your pages. These steps will help the search engines to know exactly how to classify your webpages' content.
  • These procedures, correctly performed, can result in some fairly impressive SERPs (Search Engine Ranking Positions) for searches carried out for your specific key terms. It provides you with a solid foundation for your ongoing SEO work.

Ranking your website

Although using the right key terms correctly to establish an accurate and compehensive listing does, in less competitive markets, give your website a good position in the rankings, you will find more competitive markets need more work to garner a high position.

  • When comparing websites the search engines rank them in terms of perceived successfulness, longevity and value to users. These criteria are used because they are the best way to ascertain who is the best at whatever is being searched for, and the search engines want the best resources to be at the top of their rankings. In order to determine this the search engines look at incoming links to your website and it's traffic. Incoming links from a large number of relevant websites (not link-farms etc...) that represent bigger, more successful companies go the furthest to establish a website's higher ranking. If successful companies are linking to your website, they must percieve your service as being worthwhile. The bigger they are, the greater to ranking benefit to you. Large amounts of traffic also indicate a website that is successful and it is therefore ranked higher.
  • We offer advice on how to build up your incoming links, which is the best way to attract the corresponding high traffic and the resultant improved SERPs. It is important to recognise that this process is a long term strategy. Clients who get the most benefit are those who are able to regularly garner new incoming links.
